Dr. Phillips Center - Watch a flythrough of the new center

August 19, 2011

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is located in the heart of downtown Orlando and is due to open in fall 2014. It's a project nearly three decades in the making.

At the heart of the Dr. Phillips Center will be the 2,700-seat Walt Disney Theater—a multipurpose theatre, ideally suited to host ballet, drama, musicals, rock concerts, opera, and more. It also features a 304-seat community theatre (Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater) as well as rehearsal rooms, support spaces, and a 10,000 square foot educational facility.

A second stage of the center's construction will include—among other features—a 1,700-seat, multi-form, Acoustic Theater theatre able to transform its shape and acoustics to perfectly suit opera, ballet, symphonic music, and non-traditional art forms.
