Theatre Projects’ founder, Richard Pilbrow, will present a special lecture to honor the legacy of architect Albert Frey, titled, Architecture Versus Theatre: The Magic of Place, at the Art, Design & Architecture Museum at UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, December 3 at 5:30 pm.
The presentation will honor and examine the work of Barton Myers, a legendary architect, known in large part for of his groundbreaking performing arts centers.
The lecture will accompany an ongoing exhibit at the museum: Barton Myers: Works of Architecture and Urbanism, which opened on October 2, and features Myers’ numerous watercolor renderings, computer drawings, models, research notes, and correspondences, which he donated to the school in 2002.
Richard will discuss Myers’ more than 50 years of revolutionary work as well as the collaborations between Myers and Theatre Projects, which include the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, the Portland Center for the Performing Arts, and the Tempe Center for the Arts, among others.
