University of Missouri-St. Louis, Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center

St. Louis, Missouri, USA

This new 123,000 square foot arts center features a variety of venues for the university’s theatre, music, and dance programs. The main performance space is a robust multipurpose theatre featuring a demountable orchestra shell, full fly tower, forestage extension, two levels of balcony seating, and state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. The sizable-yet-intimate venue can accommodate opera, drama, acoustic or electric music, spoken word, and various university events. The facility’s secondary performance venue is a highly flexible, sunlit, studio theatre featuring reconfigurable seating, collapsible risers, and adjustable stage platform. With the two venues, an open form studio space that can hold up to 250 people, and a lobby that can be arranged for performance, the robust facility meets nearly any need the university and community can might have.
