Mondegreen Festival: Heliograph
Designed to serve as a second venue for Phish’s Mondegreen Festival in Dover, Delaware, the towering Heliograph rose into the sky, a retro-futuristic beacon that invited you to ascend its octagonal tower for a panoramic views of the park while hosting sets by DJs such as Questlove and Flying Mojito Brothers.
On an accelerated timeline, Theatre Projects was approached to develop experience designs of the Heliograph structure as well as specify scenic element solutions based on the vision of Phish and the artistic director. After successful development of the concept pallet, Theatre Projects Lab continued to support the projects through design, construction, and festival opening. From designing the public access structure to visual design of scenic elements arrayed across the Heliograph, Lab oversaw the production design, production and technical direction, and site supervision during construction. By providing a holistic set of services from early design to vendor selection, managing fabrication, through coordination of installation, Theatre Projects Lab was able to deliver a standout structure that realized the full artistic vision of an iconic American band.
