North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center
This performing arts center is a major milestone in the redevelopment of downtown Charlotte, and features two versatile performance spaces, an orchestra rehearsal room, and support spaces. The 2,100-seat Belk Theater is a contemporary horseshoe-shaped theatre with an intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics. The ceiling of the theatre is covered by a fiber optic network, which functions as the main auditorium’s house lighting. The Booth Playhouse is a 440-seat proscenium theatre with cabaret and in-the-round configurations. The downtown redevelopment project also includes a 60-story office tower for NCNB and Founders Hall, a 150-foot-tall glass atrium structure.
