Southeast Missouri State University – River Campus, Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts (SEMO)
On the banks of the Mississippi, this 180,000 square foot arts center is spread across three new and renovated buildings—two of which once belonged to a 19th century Catholic college and seminary. Adaptive reuse of the Nationally Registered Historic Buildings included a reimagined mid-1800s chapel, which is now a beautiful, versatile recital hall. A new adjacent building features a state-of-the-art multipurpose theatre with a demountable orchestra shell. A studio theatre offers seating and staging flexibility for intimate theatrical productions. The facilities also include dance and music rehearsal rooms, visual arts studios, an art museum, and a complete array of support spaces.
