One of the country’s most recognizable, treasured, and award-winning concert venues, Seiji Ozawa Hall is renowned for its stunning architectural and acoustic character, visual and sonic transparency, warmth and energy. A survey of conductors and critics earned the venue the title of 4th best American concert hall ever built and 2nd best American concert hall of the last 50 years. Theatre Projects helped to design the 1,200-seat shoebox concert hall with side boxes, two levels of balconies, and mezzanine and behind-orchestra staging area, which, when when occupied with performers and audiences, creates an electric and profound energy in the room. Rarely does a venue’s architecture, equipment, finishes, detail, and planning align so perfectly with its function and purpose, creating a facility and a campus that in and of itself is a tribute to and celebration of music. Telescoping orchestra risers allow for easy changeover between orchestral and recital performances, and above the stage, vertical glass fiber panels can be adjusted to adjust the acoustic quality of the room. Our team designed and carefully integrated catwalks, rigging, seating, and performance lighting systems throughout leading to a seamless, clean aesthetic. Immense glass doors at the back of the venue open to lawn seating, which can accommodate up to 2,000 additional patrons.
