University of Massachusetts Boston, University Hall
Overlooking Massachusetts Bay, UMass Boston's University Hall allows the growing university to accommodate an ever-increasing enrollment and serve a large cross-section of students, faculty and staff. The 180,000-square-foot facility houses the university's departments of chemistry, art, and the performing arts, and includes a 200-seat studio theatre, which can be arranged in thrust, end stage, proscenium, flat floor or arena configurations. The studio theatre features a technical ledge, wire grid, and state-of the-art audio and lighting systems. For acoustic instrumental and choral music, an intimate 172-seat recital hall features adjustable acoustic devices like ceiling reflectors, articulated paneling, and acoustic banners and travelers. The dance studio on the fourth floor features sprung floors, a pipe grid, walk-along curtains, and an immense glass wall overlooking the water.
