With a background in architecture as well as lighting and set design, Aaron brings a balanced blend of creative insights to the design team. As a theatre designer, he’s responsible for theatre concept design, planning and programming, and standard details. Aaron is adept at several design and 3D modeling programs like Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Sketchup, and he has a particular interest in sustainability.
Before joining Theatre Projects in 2012, Aaron worked as a lighting and audio-visual technician for Sure Sound and Lighting Inc. (Grand Island, NE) and Superior Stage Services (Grand Island, NE). He also freelanced as lighting and scenic designer. He was the scenic carpenter with the Des Moines Metro Opera, Columbia College Chicago, and the Nebraska Repertory Theatre, where he also served as the assistant master electrician. Prior to that, Aaron was the master electrician and lighting designer at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln School of Music.
In 2019, Aaron was part of a panel discussion at the AIA National Conference entitled “Creating spaces for everyone”, where he spoke about promoting inclusive design for cultural spaces. He’s also spoken about theatre design at Hunter College in New York. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Design and his Masters of Architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a member of the American institute of Architects and he is fluent in English and Spanish. When he’s not working, he can usually be found hiking, fishing, or playing video games.
