We’re looking for a full-time Drafter (auditorium design) to join our team in New England. New York-based candidates will also be considered.
Please note that proof of full COVID vaccination is required for employment with the US company.
The level of seniority we’re looking for in this position is Drafter (some scenic design or other production design experience preferred) and the salary range presented here is for the Drafter level. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Revit.

Responsibilities of the role
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary design team working with owners, architects, and project managers to deliver high-quality auditorium design, room shaping, and seating layouts for spaces such as performance venues, immersive environments, themed entertainment, education, corporate, and public gathering spaces. You will collaborate closely with experienced designers to ensure we are delivering the best possible experience and solutions for our projects with a very high level of accuracy.
As part of the job, we’ll expect you to:
- Prepare design narratives, advisory documentation, and construction documents and contribute to their coordination with the overall project team
- Prepare specifications for seating systems and seating equipment
- Coordinate with the design team to determine the system requirements and ensure systems are integrated with the architecture and other trades
- Commission systems once the design has been installed
- Work on research for products and manufacturers
- Use and maintain the methods and tools outlined by Theatre Projects’ standards and practices guidelines
- Participate in team meetings, cross-departmental duties as assigned, and collaboration sessions
- Provide onsite services as required by the project scope
- Occasionally create renderings and animations using software such as Rhino, Sketchup, Revit, and Enscape
- Learn and apply architectural best practices and approaches to your work
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs
- Assist with creating standards and completing tasks assigned to you
About you
We are looking for a creative, passionate person with theatrical design experience or design experience in the architectural field. You are someone who is comfortable working on several projects at the same time and who has good time management skills; allocating the necessary time for each project and meeting deadlines is crucial to our work. While experience in architectural design is a plus, the eagerness to learn this area of design is essential. The right match for our team will enjoy working with others in a team environment, have knowledge of the needs of temporary productions and permanent installations, have a passion for the performing arts, and show compassion and empathy when explaining technical concepts to non-technical people.
We’re looking for someone who will contribute their own perspective, skills, and experience to our projects. Preferred skills and experience:
- Entertainment design experience
- Work in AutoCAD and BIM platforms (mainly Revit) (required)
- Experience in industry-standard software platforms such Rhino 3D, Adobe Creative suite; Sketchup is a plus
- Familiarity with current building and accessibility codes and standards
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to clients and internal teams in an engaging and interactive way
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with an accurate work product
- Ability to take guidance and directions from supervisors
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize tasks from multiple sources
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Self-motivation
- Fluency in Microsoft Office programs
- Proof of legal right to work in the United States
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Spanish, Portuguese, or Mandarin language skills
- Hand-sketching
- Comfort with client-facing communications like sales calls and presentations
- Experience with animation rendering in Twin Motion, Rhino, Grasshopper
While you’ll be office based most of the time, the job may require occasional travel in the US.
What we offer
The annual salary range for this role is $60,000 – $75,000, depending on your level of experience.
