Theatre Projects is looking for a Lighting Systems Designer to design lighting controls and equipment packages for performance venues, immersive environments, themed entertainment, corporate, and educational environments. Design work will include creative conceptualization, lighting plots, specification and layout of positions, fixtures, power and controls, and control systems.
The right person for our team has a background in theatrical and/or event performance lighting design. Experience in immersive, themed, or entertainment production environments is key. We are looking for a clear communicator with excellent drafting skills.
In general, this position will:
- Design and lay out performance lighting systems, network systems, and theatrical lighting plots
- Work in 2D and 3D CAD and BIM platforms to develop and document designs
- Prepare equipment schedules and budgets
- Prepare design narratives and advisory documentation pertinent to lighting systems
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Experience in performance lighting design
- Experience in AutoCAD or Revit. Current proficiency in both programs is highly valued, but willingness to become proficient quickly is required.
- Experience with professional theatre, immersive environment creation, and lighting systems integration.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems
- A valid passport. This position may require foreign and domestic travel.
Although these skills and experiences are not required, they would be highly valued in candidates for this position:
- Experience in architectural lighting design
- Experience with photometric calculation software like AGI and/or Dialux
- Experience in control system design
- Experience with light and projection modeling software platforms
- Experience in projection design and projection equipment
We prefer this position to be located in our Connecticut office, but candidates from New York and Denver will also be considered. Senior consultant level. Salary range: $85,000-$100,000 with great benefits like no-cost-to-employee health, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) match; employee-directed professional development funds; PTO with no set maximums; and a hybrid in-office/WFH environment.
