We’re excited to announce that Theatre Projects’ principal Jules Lauve has been elected president of the Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA). As president, Jules’ primary goal is to continue the steady leadership of the organization, which issues certifications, develops technical standards, provides education and business resources to its members, and represents the interests of the entertainment technology industry to government agencies and within related industries.
Jules’ initiatives as head of ESTA include leading the organization to a stable and sustainable financial position, ensuring that the range of benefits for ESTA members continues to evolve to meet members’ ever-changing needs, and educating others about the work ESTA does and the programs it creates to safeguard and improve the entertainment technology industry for its members. Those programs include:
- Entertainment Technician Certification Program—a program that certifies technicians in entertainment rigging and electrical fields.
- Technical Standards Program—an ANSI-accredited program that develops standards and recommends practices to improve safety, interoperability, and efficiency.
- Rental Guard—an alert system that has proven effective in locating stolen equipment and in preventing fraud and theft.
Jules will work to ensure that ESTA maintains its stewardship of the industry and that the trade group’s mission and organizational decision-making are aligned.
“ESTA’s motto is ‘Building the business of show business,’” Jules said. “My goal is to help ensure that everything ESTA does serves its members as they build and grow their specific businesses and the industry as a whole.”
Jules previously served on ESTA’s board of directors as professional services director, as a principal member of the Technical Standards Council, and as co-chair of the Followspot Working Group.
