The layout of a performance environment varies widely from venue to venue, need to need. In this resource, we have tried to capture the parts of a theatre—terms and types of spaces—in a general entertainment venue. It is worth noting there are many different names for the same elements of a theatre across various buildings, backgrounds, uses, and so forth. We hope this makes for a strong jumping-off point and serves as a handy reference in thinking about these special spaces.
