Robert Young

Principal, New England

Robert is an industry veteran with over 25 years of experience as a designer and theatre consultant. His range of projects includes everything from small community spaces to large-scale arenas, corporate headquarters, and theme parks. As a multidisciplinary project manager, he has a proven track record of efficient project delivery and attentive client care. His hands-on experience and insight into new performance technologies inform his approach to designing versatile and engaging theatres.

Robert began his theatre consulting career in 1999 with Theatre Projects, where he designed and specified theatre systems and managed the technical production department, working on nearly 150 projects. In 2009, he joined Arup and was an associate in their acoustics, audiovisual, and theatre consulting practice, where he led the West Coast operations of their theatre consulting group. He rejoined Theatre Projects in 2017 as a senior consultant and project manager.

He has authored several articles on theatre planning and design and has been a guest speaker at AIA, Dance USA, North American Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference, Acoustical Society of America, and LDI. In his spare time, Robert enjoys playing guitar with his two sons.

Our Team

It takes a village to create a special place for a community to call home. Our team brings together specialists with backgrounds in the performing arts, architecture, mechanical engineering, lighting design, acoustics, and more to offer a holistic approach to creating, renovating, or repurposing all forms of storytelling spaces. We understand the decisions that need to be made at every stage of the project and we know how to make a performance space work for artists, audience, and production teams.
