Ruofan helps our senior design team to sketch and develop auditorium designs for new performance spaces and refurbishment options for existing venues. She can draw on a variety of resources to support our design approach, including 3D CAD drawings for sightline analysis and comparative drawings to show how our client’s project compares to other relevant facilities around the world.
Previously, Ruofan has worked as an architectural assistant at the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Tongji University in Shanghai. One of the projects she contributed to here was the competition entry for a performing arts center at the China Pavilion for the 2010 Expo in Shanghai. She has also worked as a photographer and graphic designer for a Chinese cultural and media firm.
Ruofan has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in architecture (RIBA part I) from the Bartlett School of Architecture, part of University College London. She is also an accomplished musician, having passed her piano exam to grade eight standard. She also plays the harmonica and guitar. Ruofan has travelled extensively across Europe, America, and her native China.
Ruofan in action
It takes a village to create a special place for a community to call home. Our team brings together specialists with backgrounds in the performing arts, architecture, mechanical engineering, lighting design, acoustics, and more to offer a holistic approach to creating, renovating, or repurposing all forms of storytelling spaces. We understand the decisions that need to be made at every stage of the project and we know how to make a performance space work for artists, audience, and production teams.
