Victoria Chavez

Lead Acoustics Consultant, Paris

Victoria has specialized in room acoustics since 2004, with a particular emphasis on spaces for the performing arts. Her acoustic expertise encompasses both new-build facilities as well as renovation projects and embraces all types of performance venues – from concert halls and opera houses to drama theatres, multipurpose rooms, museums, cinemas, and mediatheques. As part of her role, Victoria works closely with our theatre planning and equipment team as well as with the architects and wider design team to create an optimal acoustic environment for each type of performance space. As part of this process, she produces calculations, graphs, 3D acoustic CAD models, and in-situ noise measurements.

Before concentrating on acoustics, Victoria studied architecture and worked for a number of years in architectural practices, giving her an excellent all-round understanding of performance space design. Before joining Theatre Projects, she worked at Xu Acoustique where she consulted on several cultural projects and led the acoustic team on the renovation of the Cannes Festival and Congress Palace, as well as Levallois Perret Conservatory of Music, and the Opera Building at Suzhou Culture Centre.

Victoria speaks English, French, and Spanish fluently. Aside from her academic studies and consulting work, Victoria has contributed to several journals and conferences, including the 2008 Paris Acoustic Congress where she discussed the absorption of bass frequencies in the new Valladolid Symphony Hall.

Our Team

It takes a village to create a special place for a community to call home. Our team brings together specialists with backgrounds in the performing arts, architecture, mechanical engineering, lighting design, acoustics, and more to offer a holistic approach to creating, renovating, or repurposing all forms of storytelling spaces. We understand the decisions that need to be made at every stage of the project and we know how to make a performance space work for artists, audience, and production teams.
