Abravanel Hall & Community Plaza Master Plan

As the permanent home of the Utah Symphony Utah Opera, Theatre Projects is aiding a planning effort to create meaningful change to nearly every facet of the facility including exterior plaza, entrance, lobby and public spaces, façade, concert hall, theatre equipment, support spaces and beyond. Our team is exploring the near- and long-term goals for expanded programming by the resident company and other stakeholders, while developing a plan for necessary improvements. Through a series of workshops, forums, surveys, interviews, and in-depth facility exploration we’re delving deep into day-to-day operations, back-of-house functions, obstacles, and attributes—exploring what works in the existing hall and plaza and what doesn’t. In response to the their goals, our team is collaborating to create an achievable conceptual plan for expansion, renovation, and meaningful activation. The reinvention of the outdoor plaza area is meant to forge a stronger connection between the community and artistry inside the concert hall, creating an energetic and highly activated storytelling space, while also providing opportunity to extend programming beyond the venue’s walls.
