Bærum Kulturhus
Sandvika is located 20 minutes by train from the center of Norway’s capital city of Oslo. The site has significant merits for the local community’s needs and follows a trend for ‘edge cities’ to build performing arts centers complementing those found in neighboring major metropolitan areas such as Oslo.
Theatre Projects conceived the auditorium to meet the brief for excellent sightlines for contemporary dance and appropriate volume for orchestra performances, together with other cultural activities. The building consists of a 500-seat auditorium with proscenium stage, foyer cafeteria, back-of-house accommodation and a combined rehearsal and function room with a panoramic window overlooking the town of Sandvika that can open to extend the foyer.
