Dubai needed a versatile venue that could accommodate ballet, opera, musicals, amplified music, spoken word, and traditional Arabic performance art. So we collaborated with the design team to create a theatre that can change its physical form to perfectly suit the needs of any type of event or performance.
At the heart of the new 645,000-square-foot Dubai Opera is a remarkable multiform theatre that can convert from opera house, to concert hall to flat floor banquet room and more. State-of-the-art mechanized systems alter the position of the room’s side boxes, walls, ceiling panels, stage, and seating wagons—completely transforming the venue in less than four hours.
