East West Players
In 2023, Theatre Projects’ Strategy & Operations division conducted a feasibility study for East West Players (EWP)—the nation’s premier Asian American theatre company—to refine their strategic vision and operational plans in a process meant to identify if expansion of facilities was viable for the organization.
Through community surveys, work sessions, and one-on-one interviews, we helped EWP clarify their mission and goals for community impact and sustainability, which included serving as a launching pad for new artists and provocative works while reducing barriers to access. We reviewed the market and the organization’s reach to determine if the envisioned 125-seat black box theatre with a cabaret lobby was viable for the proposed site, and helped EWP to understand if the expansion project was viable. This comprehensive plan supported EWP’s values-based decision-making, ensuring that they fully assessed the potential for the new spaces in a way that was reflective of their vision while also having the ability to offer modern, inclusive, and accessible resources for their company and community.
