John F. Kennedy Center, “Art and Ideals” Exhibition
Since its centennial in 2017, the Kennedy Center has explored ways to educate and inspire patrons in the legacy, values, and ideals its eponymous namesake. To support the organization in their mission, Theatre Projects joined a talented design team to renovate the facility’s former 2nd Floor Atrium Gallery into a state-of-the-art interactive exhibition. With a wrap-around video wall, LED screens, touchscreen displays, hands-on kiosks, and a variety of interactive exhibits, the exhibition utilizes the latest technology to educate the public on the former president’s achievements and legacy, affect on arts and culture, diplomatic accomplishments, and his affect on social change. Our team developed rigging systems, performance lighting and infrastructure to support the exhibit and to allow for supplemental programming including lectures, presentations, and small performances. With its completion, the gallery has at long last provided the Kennedy Center with a dedicated exhibit in honor of President Kennedy, a man once called “the best friend culture has had in the White House since Thomas Jefferson.”
