Kennedy Center Theater Lab
Theatre Projects worked closely with the Kennedy Center and the producers of Shear Madness to completely update the theatre from a “temporary” fit-out to a more permanent home for the show. The new theatre retains the same intimacy and flexibility that originally won over audiences and brought the show numerous awards.
In 1987, the comedy Shear Madness was brought in for a short run in the Kennedy Center’s Theater Lab. 20+ years later, it was still running and was in need of a more permanent home than the “temporary” setup it had used for so many years.
The renovation included a complete seating and equipment overhaul, plus upgrades to backstage areas, support space, and stage access for performers. All the performance lighting in the Theater Lab was converted to low-energy consuming LED lighting. Our work also included the architectural lighting for the Theater Lab and adjacent areas.
