King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture
A Saudi Aramco initiative, this one-of-a-kind cultural destination was designed to build cultural bridges, encourage creativity, and inspire young minds. A hub of knowledge and culture, the 1.1 million square foot center features an idea lab, library, knowledge tower, two museums, archives, and three event and performance spaces.
A 900-seat multipurpose theatre features a movable stage to accommodate over 80 musicians for orchestral performances, as well as a full fly tower, robust support spaces, and 62 motorized curtains. We designed the theatre with the flexibility to change artistic programming as audience expectations develop. To support educational films, lectures, and the emerging Saudi film industry, we designed an intimate 300-seat cinema. The center’s main conference space, The Great Hall, is a flexible conference space with versatile rigging and performance lighting and flexible staging, capable of presenting large-scale traveling exhibitions, social events, banquets, and conferences.
