Le Grand Soir
The inaugural interactive outdoor installation by Yto Barrada, Le Grand Soir, references Moroccan Brutalism and Barrada’s personal lore with the pyramid structure. The thirty-inch modular blocks are formed with concrete and stack on top of each other. The installation will be featured in the courtyard of MoMA PS1 for two years, upholding through all-weather terrain.
Theatre Projects assisted with general layout, foundation detailing, fabrication details, mechanical and structural connection detailing, finishing details and NYC DOB approvals. Conveying an appearance of simplicity, there are over one dozen different block styles employed to create the final result. Collaborating with an aritst to create a functional piece of art is always a challenge and we helped perfect that vision.
