New England Innovation Academy
Part world school, part incubator, the “innovation” in New England Innovation Academy is anything but hyperbole. To help the groundbreaking K-12 school in its mission to prepare students to “act as innovators who shape the world through human-centered design,” we’re helping to develop a versatile and engaging performance and event space at the center of their new facility, which is being adapted from a former Verizon call center.
Working within a design-build method, we helped to translate the school’s unique goals into an achievable, affordable, and innovative mixed-use venue, all while working within a limited budget, rapid time frame, and constrained footprint. In addition to the 500-seat flexible theatre, the project will include a digital studio, student gathering spaces, library, and learning studio. Together, our work will give the school more ability to offer balanced, holistic, interdisciplinary education through active student engagement.
