Portland’5 Centers for the Arts
Portland, Oregon, USA
Ed Hershberger
“The Schnitz,” as the 2,776-seat concert hall is lovingly known, was restored to its opulent 1920’s glory and upgraded with modern comforts and amenities, new theatre equipment and infrastructure, and expanded support spaces. Hatfield Hall features three new theatres: the Newmark—an 880-seat Edwardian-style multipurpose theatre; the Dolores Winningstad Theatre—a versatile 304-seat courtyard theatre with removable seating, orchestra floor lift, and reconfigurable stage forms; and the Brunish Theatre—a 200-seat flexible studio space for experimental productions.
