Roundhouse

London, UK
Amanda Rose Photography

Built in 1847 as a turntable railway engine shed for steam locomotives, the historic Roundhouse is now one of London’s most popular and iconic performing arts venues. We worked on an extensive renovation of the space to make it more suited to modern performances.

2,500
available event space (in m2)
49
room diameter (in meters)
3,300
standing capacity

Despite the Roundhouse’s historic importance, by 2006 the shuttered building needed reimagining as a performance venue and a creative center for young people. We designed the equipment in the auditorium to be discrete, retaining the original ambiance of the space, yet flexible enough to suit a variety of performance types and technical needs.
