Southeast Missouri State University – River Campus, Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts
On the banks of the Mississippi, this arts center is spread across three new and renovated buildings—two of which once belonged to a 19th century Catholic college and seminary. Adaptive reuse of the Nationally Registered Historic Buildings included a reimagined mid-1800s chapel, which is now a beautiful recital hall.
An adjacent new building features a state-of-the-art multipurpose theatre with a demountable orchestra shell—perfect for acoustic, amplified, or choral music, theatrical performances and university events. With seating and staging flexibility, intimate seating configurations, a pipe grid, and control room, the center’s studio theatre is ideally suited for student performance and rehearsal. The facilities also include dance and music rehearsal rooms, visual arts studios, an art museum, and a complete array of support spaces.
