Andrew Hunt is a Senior Consultant on the Lighting team at Theatre Projects whose work bridges architectural lighting systems and performance lighting design. At previous firms as an architectural lighting designer, Andrew has led lighting projects across corporate, hospitality, residential, cultural, and institutional environments throughout the United States and internationally.

As a performance lighting designer, Andrew’s theatre, opera, dance, and live music experience has sharpened his understanding of how light creates atmosphere and supports the way people interact with spaces. This performance-based foundation informs his architectural work, resulting in lighting solutions that balance technical precision with visual impact and user experience. Believing that there is no such thing as over-communication in effective collaboration, Andrew aims for simple, elegant solutions while recognizing that “simplicity is complicated.”

Andrew is proficient in lighting controls, photometric analysis, and BIM-based design workflows. He is an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), and USITT, where he serves as the Secretary of the Upstage NY regional section.

Andrew holds a BFA in Theater Technology and Design as well as a BA in Psychology from University at Buffalo (SUNY) and an MFA in Lighting Design from Carnegie Mellon University.
