Nicole Lang McDonald is a Consultant on the Lighting team at Theatre Projects. Her lighting design work spans performance, architectural, and exhibition environments. Drawing on more than a decade of experience developing lighting solutions for Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional, immersive, and international productions, Nicole brings a deep understanding of how lighting systems support both artistic intent and user experience.

Nicole’s background in theatrical lighting design informs her systems approach, combining technical precision with a sensitivity to storytelling, audience engagement, and spatial perception. Her experience includes creating comprehensive 2D and 3D drafting packages, developing fixture and visualization models, integrating theatrical and architectural lighting systems in immersive environments, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary project teams. As a Lighting Technician at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, she further expanded her expertise in exhibition lighting and the unique requirements of illuminating fine art.

Nicole approaches every project with a balance of creativity, technical rigor, and practical problem-solving, creating lighting systems that are both highly functional and thoughtfully crafted.

Nicole holds an MFA in Lighting Design from Yale School of Drama and a BFA in Psychology from Bard College.
