Alabama School of Fine Arts, Dorothy Jemison Day Theater
This new facility was built for both school and community use and features a 500-seat multipurpose theatre with sprung floor, mechanical orchestra lift, acoustic shell, adjustable acoustic elements, state-of-the-art audio visual components, green room, dressing rooms, and scene shop. It has been called the most technically advanced venue of its kind in the Southeast. The theatre provides the perfect mix of audience-performer intimacy and professional-quality equipment—perfect for staging dynamic performances and training young actors in the ins and outs of professional theatre. With the capability the facility gives ASFA, the school has affirmed its reputation as one of the top public, tuition-free, arts and science schools in the nation.
