Polonsky Shakespeare Center at Theatre for a New Audience
Thirty years after the group’s founding, Theatre for a New Audience entered its new home at Polonsky Shakespeare Center in the heart of the Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District. The theatre was inspired by the one of Theatre Projects’ most ground-breaking theatres—London’s Cottesloe Theatre—and like the Cottesloe, this courtyard theatre envelops the stage with the audience for incredibly intimate and dynamic performances. The orchestra floor can be altered into endstage, thrust, flat floor, and arena configurations. Adjustable seating platforms and a robust, innovative rigging system provide the venue with structural flexibility that allows for maximum artistic flexibility.
