James Madison University, Forbes Center for the Performing Arts
Through intensive planning, numerous design iterations, and a thorough understanding of client needs and goals, Theatre Projects helped provide JMU with a highly versatile building that gives their music and theatre departments a sense of ownership—both of their own spaces and the facility as a whole. The building meets an array of performance and educational requirements with five intimate and elegant venues, support and rehearsal spaces, and classrooms. The 183,000 square foot center can easily handle disparate student, community, and administrative functions at the same time. With flexible seating and staging arrangements, high-tech theatre equipment, and performance systems designed for novice users, students have an open, adaptable canvas for experimentation, collaboration, and growth.
