Tanglewood, Seiji Ozawa Hall
We designed the shoebox hall to include side boxes and two levels of balconies that encircle the hall. The design of the room pulls the audience and performers together to create impactful performances. Telescoping orchestra risers allow for easy changeover between orchestral and recital performances, and above the stage, vertical glass fiber panels can be lowered and adjusted to affect the acoustic quality of the room. At the back of the room, doors open to reveal lawn seating, accommodating up to 2,000 additional patrons.
The stunning facility has won numerous awards and is renowned for its architectural and acoustic character. A survey of conductors and music critics earned Tanglewood the title of 4th best American concert hall ever built and the 2nd best American concert hall of the last 50 years.
