Benaroya Hall
This 187,000 square foot facility features two performance halls and occupies an entire city block in downtown Seattle. The 2,500-seat S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium strikes an elegant balance of stunning architecture, audience intimacy, and superb acoustics. The hall features three levels of stepped-down balconies, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, and a 4,490-pipe organ—the Watjen Concert Organ. Home to the Seattle Symphony, and it has been celebrated for it acoustic warmth and clarity of tone—which can also be said of Benaroya’s secondary performances space—the Nordstrom Recital Hall. The 540-seat recital hall is an intimate single-tiered room that commonly hosts jazz, string, choral, and amplified music. An expansive lobby offers sweeping views of the city through immense bay windows and functions as a multi-use event space. A block-long promenade provides access to the performance spaces, shops, cafes, the ticket office, parking, and a light rail station. The versatile complex also houses Soundbridge—an interactive music education center.
