Chapman University, Marybelle and Sebastian P. Musco Center for the Arts
Theatre Projects and the design team collaborated to build incredible versatility into the 88,000 square foot center’s theatre. To accommodate full flying capability for a 120,000-pound orchestra shell, we designed specialty hoist machinery and carefully coordinated grid slots to lift and store the shell, which demounts, separates, and flies into the stage house in less than an hour. The intimate theatre features a large stage, full fly tower, stage traps, two orchestra lifts, modern theatrical dimming and relay system, advanced LED lighting, and motorized house curtain. Elsewhere in the building, a recording studio features cutting-edge AV and Internet2 technology.
