Our acoustics team has grown again with the addition of Fabrizio Filippi to our London office. An acoustician with more than 10 years’ experience, Fabrizio brings expertise in room acoustics and vibration control, as well as a passion for auralizations to our team of experts.
“I’m delighted to finally work with Fabrizio, ”Sebastien Jouan, Theatre Projects’ principal acoustic consultant, said. “Through collaboration with our theatre designers, he’ll help our team take a holistic approach to their work—considering every aspect of a performance space from the inside out. Together with Rob Harris, his presence will help grow our London team and help us deliver exceptional projects around the world.”
Fabrizio joins us from the engineering consultants Ramboll where he was a project director, specializing in building services noise, room acoustics, and vibration control. He has also worked with Buro Happold, Building Design Partnership, and Max Fordham. Fabrizio received his Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from Sapienza University of Rome and a Master of Science in sound engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He also holds a graduate diploma in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE) from the University of Cambridge.
With an understanding of the complicated science of acoustics and sound, Fabrizio balances the delicate difference between a building’s architecture, acoustic quality, and the specific needs of the user. Whether a single voice needs to project to the last seat of a 1,500-seat opera house or a museum strives for absolute silence in an expansive gallery, Fabrizio and the acoustics team at Theatre Projects understand how to achieve the right aural landscape for every space and each client.
“I joined Theatre Projects to be part of a great team of acoustic designers working on some of the most exciting performing arts projects in the world,” Fabrizio said. “Working with Sébastien Jouan and Rob Harris, we can deliver projects of any scale and of any complexity. I look forward to a bright acoustics future working with them and with all their brilliant acousticians and theatre designers.”
Since opening three years ago, Theatre Projects’ acoustics team has proven themselves as eminently capable experts, earning praise and recognition for their work crafting exquisite aural environments in drama theatres, museums, art installations, commercial and industrial properties, and other cultural institutions across the world.
