Acadiana Center for the Arts
A mix on new construction and the adaptive reuse of a former bank building, this 46,000 square foot, multi-faceted arts center is designed to reflect Acadiana’s reputation as the heart of a broad variety of cultures. The theatre was designed to meet a wide array of programming, from dance and drama, to spoken word, electrified or acoustic music, film, and more.
We designed the performance space to adapt to many touring and community groups as well as numerous performance types. Telescopic seating risers, a seating pit, and an adjustable stage allow the room to convert from flat floor to proscenium, thrust and in-the-round configurations. With its variable configurations, adjustable acoustic elements, and state-of-the-art AV systems, the arts center is well-equipped to as a focal point for community arts, educational, and performance. The building includes bright open lobby spaces and more than 9,000 square feet of visual arts spaces divided among two floors and five galleries.
