West Kowloon Cultural District

We worked closely with Foster + Partners to comprehensively plan their “City Park” scheme, which covers 17 new venues in total, including an opera house, a concert hall, an arena, and an expo center, all connected by a series of public spaces and promenades. We brought our expertise to the team by developing the footprints for each of the performing arts buildings as well as the positioning and layout of the venues within the overall site. We also advised the client on the development of the arts district to ensure that it complies with the seven planning design principles—creativity, accessibility, connectivity, integration, vibrancy, uniqueness, and sustainability.

The overall site scheme puts much of the road infrastructure for delivery and loading access underground, so we later worked with Leigh & Orange to review how these transportation connections integrate with venues at the basement level.
