Paul Brewster McGinley

Associate, New York

A passionate and engaging facilitator, educator, and organizational strategist, Paul Brewster McGinley brings decades of arts and culture experience to Theatre Projects. He centers a practice of openness and inclusion in his work, promoting actionable DEIA in strategy & operations planning, and including historically excluded voices at every stage in the process.

Paul comes from a production, non-profit management, and arts education background, where he has had the opportunity to design artistic and education programs, lead planning and operations initiatives, produce original work for kids and families, and stage manage and direct for off-Broadway and regional theatres. Paul joins Theatre Projects from Roundabout Theatre Company where he was director of teaching & learning, as well as managing director for Trusty Sidekick Theater Company—frequently collaborating with Lincoln Center and Park Avenue Armory. He has worked as an educator of all ages with City College of New York, The NYC Department of Education, Disney Theatrical Group, iTheatrics, and Ogunquit Playhouse, among other wonderful organizations.

Paul’s background has helped him balance a “deviser” mentality—best idea moves forward, make it more of what it is, and encourage ensemble over hierarchy— with a careful, data-minded approach to decisions, enabling him to craft creative solutions that serve real-world needs. He has further experience in grant writing, pandemic leadership, and teaching artist development and coordination.

On top of an M.A. in educational theatre and a B.F.A. in film & television production from New York University, Paul has participated in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion trainings through National Equity Project, Hollaback!, 228 Accelerator, TLB Collective, and Nicole M. Brewer. He is a current member of ART/NY, the Children’s Media Association, the Educational Theatre Association, the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable, and board member of TYA/USA. In addition to his work with Theatre Projects, Paul enjoys gardening, playing piano, and spending time with his husband Kyle and their chihuahua-mix Desi Lu.

Our Team

It takes a village to create a special place for a community to call home. Our team brings together specialists with backgrounds in the performing arts, architecture, mechanical engineering, lighting design, acoustics, and more to offer a holistic approach to creating, renovating, or repurposing all forms of storytelling spaces. We understand the decisions that need to be made at every stage of the project and we know how to make a performance space work for artists, audience, and production teams.
