Cross Wei-hsuan Wang
Cross is a skilled equipment designer with more than 10 years of experience in theatrical production, mechanical design, and engineering. Her comprehensive understanding of performance spaces helps her ensure that interconnected and overlapping systems are in harmony with each other. She utilizes 3D design programs like AutoCAD, Revit, and Vectorworks to create efficient, versatile, and reliable theatre equipment.
Previously, Cross designed and analyzed theatre equipment and systems for Auerbach Pollock Friedlander (New York, NY) and Cubical Motivation System (Taipei City, Taiwan). As a designer, project manager, and engineer with Anlitor Corporation System Integration (Taipei City, Taiwan) she oversaw the construction of the Dadong Arts Center Performance Hall (Kaohsiung, Taiwan). Cross has worked on dozens of productions in many supporting roles including technical director, sound designer, engineer, master electrician, prop master, set designer, stage manager, and projection engineer.
Cross joined Theatre Projects from the Yale School of Drama where she earned her Master of Fine Arts in technical design and production. She also received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in technical design from Taipei National University of the Arts. Cross is fluent in English and Mandarin and is a member of the United States Institute of Theatre Technology and the Taiwan Association of Theatre Technology. She describes herself as being “made of coffee, tea, and music,” and she loves all kinds of handcrafts, especially woodworking—favorite tasks include carving wooden utensils and turning pens on a lathe. She’s also obsessed with LEGO and her dream is to visit their headquarters in Denmark.
